Things You Should Know

Why Ephedra Was Banned?

I’ll be honest with you, this is a tricky area. Since ephedra was banned in 2004 there’ve been a lot of questions about if and how to get. The good news is, this substance is not illegal.

Currently it is legal it is just regulated. I’ll explain what I mean by regulated, and how you can go about getting it safely and legally. Just be on the safe side though, check your local laws before trying to buy one of these products. Some places do have very odd laws.

Regulation

Since the ban in 2004, a number of diet pills and other products containing ephedra or ephedrine have popped up. That is because of what I stated earlier, the fact that it can be sold legally.

However, this is a gray area but it isn’t anything for you to personally worry about. This is something that should be a concern for the manufacturers of the products as well as businesses that sell them.

When the ban was written into law, it only banned one specific kind of ephedra. As you may know by now, there are many plants in this family. All of them contain the substance that we want.

Supplement makers and supplement stores have found a way to exploit this. Currently the ingredients being used in the legal products come from other varieties of the ephedra family. Since they were not included in the ban they are essentially legal.

Reasons Why

There are several reasons that the ban was passed in 2004. The politicians claim that everyone’s safety was their main concern. That is simply not the case.

Although products containing these substances have been studied and tested for safety in some cases, there has never been significant evidence found to prove that these substances are dangerous.

On the other hand, some products that are known to be dangerous remain on the market and there is no talk of banning them.

However, there is another big reason that these products were banned. That reason is because ephedrine and substances like it can be used in the production of methamphetamine.

If you remember, just a few years ago meth was becoming a major problem across the US. The laws used to reduce the production of meth also banned some ephedrine products.

They wanted to keep these products out of the hands of those who would use them to make illicit substances. These are the same laws that removed the active ingredients from many of the best OTC cold medications and permanently put many others behind the counter.

Summary

Be smart when buying an ephedra-based diet pill. Just because they are still legal that doesn’t mean that no one is going to give you a hard time about it.

The best thing you can do is know the laws regarding this substance. It is not actually illegal, only some very specific varieties are. There are many pills on the market that are completely legal because they do not contain the banned ingredients.

Some companies have used this as an opportunity to replace them with similar ingredients that are of an even higher quality, and that means better results for you. After all, that’s why you’re here, you want results.

You can have them, just be sure to check the laws in your area before ordering a product like this. As I mentioned earlier some local governments have very odd laws.
